About this directory
What this site is
Columbia Cleaning Service Guide is an independent directory and comparison resource covering 272 cleaning businesses in Columbia, from small owner-operated teams to larger residential and commercial outfits. It exists for anyone trying to figure out who actually does good work in this market: homeowners comparing move-out cleaners, landlords who need a reliable turnover crew, or office managers looking for a recurring janitorial contract.
We also generate enquiries for local providers. When you ask to be matched with someone, we pass your request along to providers relevant to your request and may receive a referral fee for doing so. That arrangement is disclosed again on the quote page itself, and it never touches how a business is scored or ranked here. A company that pays nothing can rank above one that participates in referrals, and that’s by design.
Where the listing data comes from
Each profile is built from public business information (service areas, hours, licensing where applicable, basic contact details) combined with a synthesis of recent Google reviews. We don’t republish review text or quote reviewers directly. Instead, we read the recent pattern of feedback and summarize what it suggests about reliability, communication, pricing fairness, and job quality, then link out to the business’s Google listing so you can read the original reviews yourself and form your own view.
How rankings are earned
Rankings come from a published rubric applied consistently across all 272 businesses, using the public data and review synthesis described above. Nothing about a ranking is negotiated or purchased. If you want the specifics of how factors are weighted, the full breakdown is on our methodology page.
Businesses can and do reach out to correct factual details on their own profile: a wrong phone number, an outdated service area, an old address. We welcome those corrections and update them. What a business cannot do is edit its own score, its sentiment summary, or its position in the ranking. That separation is the whole point of running an independent guide.
Where sponsorship fits in
Some pages carry paid placements. These are always labelled “Sponsored,” displayed in a distinct section separate from the earned ranking, and never blended into it. A sponsored slot buys visibility, not a better score and not a higher rank.
Who runs the rubric
Editorial oversight of the rankings sits with Kai Ellis, Research Lead. Kai maintains the scoring rubric and reviews how it’s applied across the directory so the same standard gets used whether a business has five listings on this site’s radar or five hundred reviews behind it.

Using the directory day to day
Most people start by browsing the full list, narrowing by the kind of cleaning they need, then checking two or three profiles side by side before requesting a quote. The synthesis on each page is meant to save that first round of digging, not replace your own judgment or the original reviews on Google.

FAQ
- Does a business pay to be listed here?
- No. Listings are built from public business data and review synthesis. Some pages also carry a separately labelled Sponsored placement, but that is distinct from being listed or ranked.
- Can a business improve its own ranking?
- A business can correct factual details like hours or service area. It cannot edit its score, sentiment summary, or ranking position, those are set by the published rubric.
- Do you show the actual Google review text?
- No. We synthesize what recent reviews indicate about reliability and quality, then link out to the business's Google listing so you can read the original reviews.
- What happens when I request a quote?
- Your enquiry is passed to providers relevant to your request, and we may receive a referral fee. This is disclosed again on the quote page and has no effect on rankings.
